PDF Background Tips
I will use this page to describe some solutions to problems that may occur
when you work with backgrounds in your PDF files.
Quality and Colors
Sometimes it happens that the PDF you are trying to use as a background
isn't very compatible with the built in way of handling it. The result
can be that the background is of poor quality. Images may be rasterized and
colors may be slightly different compared to the original background PDF file.
Do not give up! Help is just around the corner.
The PDF Writer can use the PDF Toolkit to apply the background.
PDF Toolkit is a separate program that you can download from
www.pdflabs.com.
Here is what you should do:
- Download the zip file for Windows at the link above.
- Unpack the zip file.
- Find the
bin directory inside the zip file.
- Copy the contents of
the
bin directory to the application folder of the
PDF Writer. This is typically something like
C:\Program Files\bioPDF\PDF Writer
in a default installation.
- Print your PDF with a background again and test the result.
When you have copied the pdftk.exe and the DLL from the bin directory to the
PDF Writer's application folder then it will automatically be used the next
time you ask the PDF Writer to apply a PDF background. The PDF Writer will
see that you have installed the PDF Toolkit in it's application folder.
